I can definitely see that! It isn’t the type of book I would usually choose for myself but I read My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises as part of a challenge. Though I enjoyed the experience of reading it well enough, I found the writing style to be a bit maudlin and manipulative. Though A Man Called Ove is so well received, I don’t know if I could read another one like this in the near future.
I’ve read three. The first was A Man Called Ove and I loved it. Next I read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry and was quite disappointed with it. The last one I read was Anxious People which might be my favorite. I’ve heard the Beartown series is good.
I just looked and it appears the one you read is the same one I read, but by a different title. I hate when they do that! (and I didn’t mean to include the Amazon link in my comment)
Oh yes! I’m frustrated by that as well. It was part of a book challenge to read a book with the word “regard” in the title but when I went looking for it, it came up with both titles as results. Not surprised you found it disappointing but that does give me hope for some of his other work. I will have to read your review! Thanks for sharing it.
Fredrik Backman can be hit or miss for me.

I’m curious: which Backman books have you read?

Sorry, again…. that link was to my review of it, not Amazon! (I need to be more careful before I hit “reply”)
